Die Christlich Demokratische Union Deutschlands (Kurzbezeichnung: CDU) ist eine deutsche Partei. Sie bezeichnet sich als christlich-soziale, liberale sowie wertkonservative Volkspartei und stellt mit der Bundesvorsitzenden Angela Merkel die geschäftsführende Bundeskanzlerin der Bundesrepublik Deutschland.
Auf europäischer Ebene ist die CDU Mitglied der Europäischen Volkspartei (EVP). Die CDU ist nach Anzahl der Mitglieder die zweitgrößte Partei in Deutschland. Die „Ost-CDU“ ging als ehemalige Blockpartei 1990 in der gesamtdeutschen CDU auf. Mit der bayerischen Schwesterpartei CSU bildet die CDU im Bundestag eine Fraktionsgemeinschaft.
